If you are fond of flower garden but don't have much time then these tips are meant for you. Gardening is surely not a full time job. - Before starting a flower bed remove all the weeds and grass. Then place your plants.
- Opt for those plants which are easy to care and do not need regular division.
- Flowers should be selected according to the your conditions i.e.dry or moist soil, shade or sun.
- For easier flower gardening replace perennials for annuals which need replanting each year. To maintain a season long interest you can plant daffodils and crocus, sedum , susan and day lillies along with ornamental grass.
- There are some flower plants which needs shade to florish so you can try Solomon’s seal and ferns with a ground cover.
- To keep grass out of flower beds , make a small six inches deep and wide trench on the edge of the beds. During growing season clean up these edges with garden edger or a spade.
- For an attractive as well as permanent edging you can go for brick pavers or row of stones at least six inches deep. Garden mower will move on this edge with a great ease.
- Organic fertilizers are essential for plants. Therefore enrich your garden soil with rotted manure or compost. Protective covering for soil in your garden specially between plants is essential. It also reduces the time consumed by garden care and increases the number of flowers flourishing in your garden.
- Pruning for flower plants is necessary for proper flowering.
- You flower garden needs your attention. It will hardly take fifteen minutes a day. So visit your garden every day and notice every bit of it for example is the perennial planted by you last year is overgrowing, flower seedlings are getting sunbaked . It will be more of enjoyment and proud smelling flowers grown by you than a chore.
- According to an old belief plants give more flowers if you take care of them, spend time with them or talk to them. After all they are also living beings and need your attention.
